Creative Border Piecing

2011_1026CreatBorPieceQuilts0001Learn how to machine piece an interesting, colorful quilt border with no fabric waste.  This workshop is a technique class perfect for using scraps for a quilt you may have started and are stuck on how to border it.  This concept could also be incorporated in the body of a quilt and can be used over and over again for future projects.

Skill level:  Beginner

Watercolor Florals

2004_0101Quitlphotosforclass0002Experience the excitement of painting on fabric using water-soluble artists’ crayons.  Students will master using the crayons in conjunction with a wet brush to achieve realistic looking flowers and botanicals.  After the painting is completed, border treatments will be explored along with free motion thread painting tips.  No previous art background is necessary.  A kit fee of $5.00 is required the day of class, which includes PFD muslin, fabric medium, botanical drawings and photographs.

Don’t Fear the “A” Word

2013_1219BaltimoreBlockPhotos0004This is needle-turn appliqué that entails a simple, straight forward approach.  No freezer paper, no templates, no fusing, just trace shapes and apply to your background with silk thread.  You’ll be surprised how easy it is!  Hand embroidery is also covered.  Best of all, no sewing machine is required for this class!

Crazy Fun

Well, this is your chance, and you’ll be surprised how
easy it is.  This class involves both machine piecing and hand work.  Students will first create their crazy quilt blocks using their sewing machine, then hand embellish with simple embroidery techniques.  A kit fee of $5.00 is required the day of class, which includes cotton batiste foundation fabric, embroidery and beading needles, and a perle cotton ball for some embroidery
